Crystal Palace Close to Signing Brazilian Goalkeeper Lucas Perri on Initial Loan Deal

Crystal Palace are reportedly 'close' to agreeing terms with Sao Paulo over an initial loan deal for Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Perri.

The Eagles are currently in the market for a gloveman following injuries to both their first-team goalkeepers in Wayne Hennessey and Vicente Guaita, although it appears a swift replacement in Perri is poised to be drafted in.

According to Sky Sports, the 21-year-old is set to join on an initial six-month loan deal with the Eagles having the option to make the transfer permanent in the summer for a fee around the £3m mark.

Palace have been left bare in the goalkeeping department following injuries to Hennessey and Guaita who are expected to be sidelined for 'roughly four weeks' each after they both suffered injuries against Watford. That leaves 39-year-old Julian Speroni as the only recognised keeper at the club, with the Argentine expected to start against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

Perri is just 21-years-old but is highly rated in Brazil having progressed through their youth sides - although he is yet to break into his club's first-team and is currently third choice at Sao Paulo. However, that doesn't appear to have deterred Palace boss Roy Hodgson as he looks set to add the Brazilian to his ranks.

The youngster has received high praise from former Sao Paulo coach Michael Beale (now at Rangers) who has described Perri in a recent tweet as an 'outstanding young goalkeeper' who will do 'very well' in the Premier League.
