Crystal Palace Linked With £40m Move for Ismaila Sarr

Crystal Palace have identified Watford's Ismaila Sarr as a potential replacement for Wilfried Zaha, should they finally sell their star man.

Zaha's been linked with a number of Premier League clubs for several years, but with the 27-year-old not hiding his desire to leave Selhurst Park, this summer might be the right time to move on for the Ivory Coast international.

Roy Hodgson's side may have already lined up a potential replacement, with The Sun reporting that Palace are ready to pursue Watford ace Sarr following the Hornets' relegation from the Premier League.

Roy Hodgson has fielded plenty of questions about Zaha's future

Sarr arrived at Vicarage Road last summer, at the same time Palace were also interested in the Senegal international's signature. Sarr eventually went to Watford when the Hertfordshire club paid Ligue 1 side Rennes £30m.

Despite a slow start to life in England, Sarr found his feet in the second half of the season, finishing the year with five goals and six assists as Watford finished 19th and found themselves dropping to the Championship.

After a disappointing season for Zaha saw the former Manchester United man score four goals and create five assists, this summer feels like the perfect time to let him go and Sarr offers a like-for-like replacement.

At only 22 years of age, the Watford man offers a long-term solution to Zaha's almost inevitable departure and with the Hornets wanting a fee of around £40m for him, Hodgson would likely make a profit from the two deals.

At 22 years old, Sarr is a potential long-term heir to Wilfried Zaha

A move for Sarr won't come easy for Palace though, as they'll face stiff competition from the likes of Wolves and Premier League champions Liverpool, with both sides linked.

If they fail to land the 22-year-old, Palace are also said to be looking at Bournemouth's Wales international David Brooks as well as Burnley's Dwight McNeil.
