Keeper signing imminent

Iain Dowie is on the verge of securing his first new signing of the summer – Hungarian international keeper Gabor Kiraly.

Kiraly is being put through his paces at Palace on a two-day trial, with a view to joining the club on a free transfer. The 28-year-old has spent the past seven years at Hertha Berlin, making 180 appearances for the German club.

The keeper has also won 48 caps playing for Hungary, and had been recently watched by fellow Premiership clubs Liverpool and Newcastle.

"A move to England is a dream come true for me," Kiraly said.

Should the move go through, it does not spell the end of the Julian Speroni deal. The Argentinian keeper is still a target for Dowie – who wants two top keepers competing for the number one shirt – with a £500,000 transfer from Dundee close to completion.
