"He went up to see the surgeon and he thinks he could be back in the frame by the middle of March, which is super news for us," said Eagles boss Neil Warnock.
"The operation went far better than expected, it is already healing well so that was a good bit of news for us for once."
McCarthy had a shoulder operation earlier this month.
