Palace set for Langley swoop

Cardiff City midfielder Richard Langley is set to become Iain Dowie’s next purchase as the Palace boss looks to bulk up his already injury-hit squad.

The 25-year-old is reported to have said his goodbyes to his Cardiff team-mates after their 3-1 home defeat to Watford.

It’s expected the Jamaican international will sign for Palace within the next few days and he could be in the squad in time for the visit of Plymouth on Saturday. He will become the second summer arrival from Cardiff after Jobi McAnuff's transfer in June.

The signing will come as a timely boost for Dowie, after three of his first-choice midfielders (Aki Riihilahti, Michael Hughes and McAnuff ) were forced to sit out last week’s 1-1 draw at Norwich.

Langley, who can play in a central position or out on the wing, has made 66 appearances and scored eight goals for the Bluebirds since joining from QPR in summer 2003.
