Palace swoop for Greek star

Palace have completed the signing of Euro 2004 winner Vassilis Lakis.

The Greek midfielder, who has joined the club as a free agent, has put pen to paper on a one-year deal.

"We are delighted to sign a player of Vassilis' quality," Dowie told the official web site.

"Subject to international clearance he will go straight into the squad for Monday night's game against Fulham."

Lakis is a free-scoring winger, having notched 37 goals during his six seasons at AEK Athens who he left in the summer. He’ll provide compeition for Wayne Routledge on the right wing.
