Palace have completed the signing of James Scowcroft from Coventry City for a fee of £500,000.
The 30-year-old striker spent a single season with the Sky Blues, scoring just three goals in 45 appearances. However, during his time at the Ricoh Arena, Scowcroft was generally deployed on the right of midfield.
Palace boss Peter Taylor spoke of his delight at securing another signing ahead of the new season.
"James is a player I know very well," said Taylor. "He's a very good target man and a footballer who can play in a number of positions."
Scowcroft goes straight into the squad for the friendly against Boavista at Selhurst Park tomorrow night.
