Crystal Palace 3 - 4 Brescia

Last updated : 12 September 2003 By Palace Dan
Palace's friendly with Brescia proved to be a feisty affair with no shortage of entertainment and incident. Palace romped into a 3 - 0 lead with goals from Andy Johnson, Tyrone Berry and an own goal, before Brescia stormed back to win with 4 second half goals, the winner coming just three minutes from time. There was the now customary red card for Palace when Tommy Black was given his marching orders following a brawl after a Brescia player, who was also sent off, had thrown the ball at him.
Palace manager Steve Kember took the opportunity to blood a number of youngsters with Tyrone Berry, Lance Cronin, who saved a second half penalty, Tom Soares and Tariq Nabil all playing some part, and all looking impressive. It was also good to see Curtis Fleming and Jamie Smith return to action following injury. Kember will have learned a great deal from this match, particularly about the youngster's ability to play at this level, and the future of the Club looks to be very healthy indeed.
