Andy Johnson has been assured that the injury he received on Saturday at Preston is not as bad as first feared. Johnson tangled with Preston's Michael Jackson and lay motionless on the pitch for 5 minutes before being stretchered off and taken to hospital. He underwent a series of tests and scans, and the specialist confirmed that there was no break and no lasting neurological damage. Johnson feared that he had broken his neck, as he had no feeling in his arm immediately following the clash. George Cooper, the Palace physio, has confirmed the diagnosis, and likens the injury to whiplash. He said that Johnson has been walking around without a neck brace, and is keen to play against Bradford on Tuesday. Manager Trevor Francis will take medical advice before naming Johnson in the team.
