No new faces as players report back

The Palace players return for pre season training on Monday 1st July. Simon Rodger will be missing having been released by Trevor Francis at the end of last season. Jovan Kirovski is out of contract on 30th June and it would be no great surprise to see him ply his trade in a Birmingham City shirt next season. Also missing from the return will be Ade Akinbiyi, who is responding well to a knee operation,Aki Rihilahti who is recovering from an elbow operation and Clinton Morrison and Gregg Berhalter who have both been given an extra weeks holiday following their world cup exploits.
There have been no new arrivals at Selhurst, despite Simon Jordan's assurance that there is money available for Francis to spend. Francis has been linked in recent weeks with Jamie Lawrence from Bradford City and Wimbledon's Neil Ardley although both deals seem to have gone cold.
Another Francis target, Brentford's Lloyd Owusu has opted to join Sheffield Wednesday instead of Palace or Millwall and Cedric Carasso has returned to Marseille, where they have appointed a new coach, who wants Carasso to stay. Francis is confident, however, that the Frenchman will return to Selhurst Park as back up to Matt Clarke and Alecks Kolinko.
Palace have secured the services of Jim Barron, who takes over as fitness coach for the coming season.
Several other reported Palace targets have now been proved to be just reports. Francis has confirmed that he has not spoken to any players about coming to Selhurst, apart from Owusu.
