Transfer activity expected soon

Palace manager Trevor Francis has been told by Simon Jordan that there is money available to spend in the transfer market. Francis is keen to bring in a central midfielder, and is known to be a fan of Sheffield United's Michael Brown. Also on the shopping list is a striker, with Lloyd Owusu a high priority. The signing of Owusu, or indeed any other striker would open the door for Clinton Morrison's departure. With Ade Akinbiyi likely to be unavailable for the first month of the new season, it would appear that Francis will need to sign a striker, irrespective of the position with Morrison. There will also be some departures from Selhurst with Dean Austin, Jovan Kirovski and Greg Berhalter all likely to leave before the players report back for pre season training.
