Andy Johnson has won the Barclays Premiership player of the month award for October.

The free-scoring striker scored four goals in four games during the month, taking his haul for the season so far to eight.

AJ’s top form has seen him become touted in the media as a future England player – although it was revealed during the week that he could also play for Poland by virtue of his Polish grandfather.

A spokesman for Barclays said, "Johnson’s record in October is a fantastic achievement - four goals from four games."

"His goals have ensured the Eagles are climbing the table - whether it is England or Poland, international football must surely beckon."
