AJ keen to commit to Palace

Andy Johnson has confirmed he is happy to stay at Selhurst Park beyond the end of his current contract.

AJ’s deal still has two years to run, but the free-scoring forward has revealed he would like to sign up for longer.

"I am happy at Crystal Palace, I'm settled and there's nowhere else I want to be," Johnson told the Streatham Post. "I didn't hear about any clubs coming in for me in the transfer window. I read bits and bobs in the papers and people would mention clubs to me, but I took no notice.

"Even if there was something, I wouldn't really have been interested in it. Like I say, I am interested in signing a new contract here and maybe we can sort something out between now and the summer."

In the meantime, the striker needs to concentrate on getting fit for Saturday’s home clash with Gillingham. After coming off in the first half of last week’s defeat at Derby, AJ has become an injury worry for Iain Dowie. He twisted his ankle at Pride Park, and Dowie is now hoping the forward will be able to play against the Gills.
