AJ named in PFA Select side

Palace super-striker Andy Johnson has been named in the PFA’s Division One team of the season.

AJ’s recent hat-trick against Crewe saw the 23-year-old reach a stunning 30 goals for this campaign, a run of form which has helped Palace surge up the table in recent months.

The award, which is voted on by fellow pros, comes as ample confirmation of the burger-munching forward’s deadliness in front of goal.

"It was a bonus to be named in it," AJ told the official club site. "I went to the awards with my dad and my brother, and they were proud of me. It was a great day, I’ve never had anything like that before.

"Now I just want to kick on for the remainder of the season and get into the playoffs with the rest of the team."

AJ now has another milestone in his sights. Having scored 26 of his 30 goals in the league, he now needs just one more to equal Ian Wright’s post-war record of 27 league goals. Incidentally, that record was set in 1988-89 – a promotion season.
