AJ ponders Poland place

Andy Johnson could soon be playing international football – for Poland.

The in-form striker is currently the top-scoring Englishman in the Premiership – prompting calls for him to be handed an England place.

But AJ could also choose to play for Poland, as he qualifies for the side through his maternal grandfather.

It’s believed the Poles sent scouts to watch AJ play in Saturday’s win over Birmingham, and they’ll have been impressed with what they saw as the quick-footed forward fired home the winner.

A call-up could come within the month because Poland play a friendly against France later in November.

Anthony McFarlane, AJ’s agent, says the player would be very tempted should Poland come calling.

"Andy was born in England, but qualifies to play for Poland because of his ancestry," McFarlane told the Daily Mail.

"It would be a huge dilemma if he was selected to play by either country.

"Andy is very proud of his Polish ancestry and it would be a special moment for him, if he was called into their national side."
