AJ scoops award once more

AJ has been recognised for his awesome run of form by being named player of the month for April by the Football League.

Johnson was a shoe-in for the award after a free-scoring month which saw him move to the top of the Division One scoring chart. During April AJ hammered home five goals in six games, including a priceless hat-trick against Crewe.

It’s the second time the top striker has won the award this season. He also picked up the gong in January at the start of Palace’s surge towards the play-offs.

"Andy Johnson’s pace and skill make him a real handful for opposition defences," said Football League spokesman Ian Christon. "He had scored 26 League goals by the end of April, a fantastic effort that could yet take Crystal Palace into the Premier League."

A goal for AJ on Sunday will see him break Ian Wright’s long-standing record for most league goals scored in a post-war season.
