Argentine striker Nicolas Pavlovich is rumoured to be on his way to Palace.
The frontman currently plies his trade for FC Saturn in Russia, but Sky Sports reports he is arriving in London to discuss a move to Selhurst Park.
Several other Premiership clubs are thought to be interested in the player, but the main sticking point could be his price – with Saturn asking for a hefty £3.5 million for the 26-year-old. Should Dowie stump up the cash the move would shatter Palace's current record fee of £2.75m, paid in 1998 for Valerien Ismael.
