The left-back was taken off at half time in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Burnley after sustaining a knee injury, meaning Franck Queudrue may make his first start of the season.

Jared Wilson, 19, will also come into contention but is not expected to feature.

Martin Taylor will continue in the centre of defence after Radhi Jaidi picked up a thigh injury while on international duty with Tunisia.

Defender Stephen Kelly (thigh) and midfielder Damien Johnson (back) remain the only other absentees, although both have returned to training.

Striker Cameron Jerome may start after his goalscoring exploits at the weekend, while Kevin Phillips, James McFadden, Garry O'Connor and Marcus Bent will also be competing for a starting berth in attack.

Defender Paddy McCarthy looks set to miss out for Crystal Palace.

The centre-half was sidelined for Saturday's 3-0 win over Barnsley after dislocating his shoulder before the international break and although a scan has showed no serious damage he is unlikely to figure at St Andrew's.

Danny Butterfield also missed out at the weekend with a hamstring injury so 17-year-old Nathaniel Clyne could keep his place at right-back after an impressive debut.

Striker Alan Lee is close to returning from a hamstring problem but boss Neil Warnock does not want to rush him back so will start with on-loan Craig Beattie in attack.

Calvin Andrew (knee) is also on the mend while James Scowcroft (hamstring) is a fortnight away from a return.
