Gary Borrowdale has signed for Iain Dowie's Coventry, after failing to agree a new contract at Palace.
Eagles boss Peter Taylor had hoped to keep hold of Borrowdale, but it quickly became clear his heart was set on a reunion with former manager Dowie.
As the defender is only 21, Palace will be due a compensation payment from Coventry, which will be decided at a tribunal.
