Borrowdale plays it cool over new deal

Defender Gary Borrowdale has turned down a new contract at Palace, but says he still sees his future at Selhurst Park.

The 21-year-old's contract expires this summer, meaning he could walk away from the Eagles before the next season starts.

Borrowdale's age means he could not leave for free, but any fee received for him would likely be far less than his true value.

However, the left-back says he is hopeful of agreeing a improved deal, although he confessed he is still waiting for one to be presented.

"I don't know what's going on yet, so I will have to sit down with the manager and the chairman and hopefully thrash something out," he said.

"I've had a couple of meetings with the manager. I've had one written offer which I've turned down.

"I'm confident I will be here next season - but it's down to other people. It's their decision at the moment."
