Jay Bothroyd has denied he was trialled by Palace last summer - despite crossing the Atlantic to play in a string of pre-season friendlies for the Eagles.
Bothroyd - who knocked two past Palace in this weekend's game against Wolves - was part of the Palace squad that travelled to the USA during the summer.
Peter Taylor ran the rule over him in those games, but after Saturday's 2-2 draw commented that he had no regrets about not offering the 24-year-old striker a permanent deal.
But the former Charlton player has reacted by denying he ever wanted to join the club.
"I did not have a trial with Palace. I already had a few offers, from Premiership clubs but I decided to come here and train with a mutual friend," sniffed Bothroyd."I only went to Palace for some training. I had no intentions of signing because there were other big teams interested in me," he added, apparently forgetting that he never actually signed for a Premiership side at all, let alone a big one.
