Boyce: I want to leave

Emmerson Boyce has confirmed he wants to leave Crystal Palace to pursue his dream of a return to the Premiership.

The full back, who has just twelve months left on his current contract, has turned down the offer of a new deal at Selhurst and is now looking to join a new club before the start of the season.

Wigan, Charlton and Fulham have all been linked with the 26-year-old, who joined Palace from Luton in the summer of 2004 after his contract expired there.

"Palace have offered me a new contract, but it wasn't really what I was looking for," said Boyce. "I want to play in The Premiership and I just hope people can understand that."

Charlton are believed to be in pole position to sign last season's Palace player of the season, with a bid in the region of £1.75 million mooted. However, director of football Bob Dowie has confirmed the Eagles will listen to any offers.

"Emmerson has made it clear he doesn't want to be at the club so we have to listen to offers for him," said Dowie.

"He's only got one year left on his contract and there's no way we can afford to lose him for nothing next summer."
