Burley backs Davids

Crystal Palace manager George Burley has defended Edgar Davids after the Dutchman's error gifted QPR their first goal in Saturday's 2-1 win at Selhurst Park. Davids under-hit a backpass allowing Jamie Mackie to round Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni and tee up Adel Taarabt for the opener. "It happens," said Burley. "He got a knock in the first half and it might have affected him a bit. "You would think with his experience passing back from there wouldn't have happened, but it did." Palace hauled themselves level through Kieron Cadogan but Heidar Helguson headed Rangers' winner at the death. "QPR are a very good side, experienced and strong," added Burley. "We have done well against them and Cardiff, we have had nine or 10 players out so we have to keep going and working hard."
