Butterfield sounds exit warning

Danny Butterfield has warned he will be forced to look for another club unless he retains his place in the starting line-up.

The 25-year-old was plagued by injury last season and saw his place in the team taken by Emerson Boyce. But despite returning to the side for the last five games of this campaign, the right-back still believes his future may lie away from Selhurst Park.

"The game is all about opinions," Butterfield told the South London Press. "I believe I am good enough to be playing at Championship level week in, week out.

"But if the gaffer's opinion is that I will be dropped when people return from injury, then I know I will have to leave the club for the sake of my career.

"I'll have to wait and see what happens when everyone is back fit."
