Cort bags career best

Defender Leon Cort is celebrating his best ever season in front of goal after being confirmed as Palace's scorer against Stoke.

The referee from the 2-1 Easter Monday defeat has awarded the Eagles' goal to Cort, taking the former Hull player to an impressive eight goals this campaign - a career best.

The strike was initially jotted down as an own goal by Stoke's Gabriel Zakuani, after he deflected Cort's header into the net, but was later given to the big centre back as his original effort was on target.

And with four games still to go, the 27-year-old could yet make it to double figures as he looks to end the season on a high.

"We just want to finish as strongly as we can and show people that we're a good side," Cort told the official site.

"We're not going to let the season just fritter away because we're not in the play-offs."
