Cort poised for Palace move

Palace are believed to be closing in on the signing of Hull City defender Leon Cort, with a price tag of £1m mooted.

New Palace boss Peter Taylor has already had a bid of £750,000 for his former player rejected, but reports suggest a renewed bid of £1m has proven enough to prise Cort away from the KC Stadium.

Should the deal go through, it would fly in the face of comments made by Hull chairman Adam Pearson, who said after the initial bid that Hull would definitely not sell Cort.

"No bid at this stage would be accepted," said Pearson earlier this week.

"Hull City is a football club that doesn't need to sell players any more to stay afloat.

"Leon recently signed a new three-year deal and that was done specifically to warn off this kind of move from other clubs."

Cort is highly rated by Hull fans, and his signing would provide the perfect replacement for Wigan-bound Fitz Hall.
