Palace have completed the signing of Hull defender Leon Cort on a two year contract for £1.25m.

The centre-back joins as a replacement for Fitz Hall, who has been sold to Wigan for £3m.

New Palace boss Peter Taylor said he was delighted to have re-signed the player he originally took to Hull on a free transfer from Southend.

"I'm very pleased," Taylor told the official website.

"Leon was a very reliable player for the past two seasons at Hull. He wins every header and he's a great player and a good professional.

"The fact that he never got booked in 90 games with Hull means he stands up and is a patient defender.

"He's still learning and improving but he was absolutely excellent for me at Hull. I have no doubt that he'll be a good signing. "

Taylor is now looking to fill the gap filled by Andrew Johnson's departure to Everton.

A £750,000 bid has been placed for Cort's brother and Wolves striker Carl Cort, while the Eagles continue to be linked with MK Dons and England U21 striker Izale Mcleod.

The Dons forward has been told by boss Martin Allen that he is free to leave his club for a new challenge.
