Derby County v Palace – Team news preview

Last updated : 20 February 2004 By Nik Taylor

Palace fans will be hoping the Eagles can knock Derby for six tomorrow afternoon.

Victory at Pride Park would see Iain Dowie’s side record their sixth consecutive league victory. But not only that – it would also record for the club an unprecedented sixth away league win on the trot.

Dowie is likely to make at least one change to the side that battered Stoke last Saturday. Tony Popovic travelled with Australia for their midweek friendly against Venezuela, and is expected to be rested. His omission will pave the way for new signing Mikele Leigertwood to make his full Palace debut.

Palace’s other players on international duty all avoided any major mishaps, so the rest of the side is likely to remain the same. With no new goalkeeper yet arriving at Selhurst, Cedric Berthelin will continue between the sticks.

Derby meanwhile welcome back Candido Costa, but will be missing left-back Jamie Vincent.
