Dowie on verge of new Palace deal

Iain Dowie is set to sign a new deal with Palace that will keep him at Selhurst Park for the next four years.

Dowie has been an instant hit in SE25, working a near miracle last season to take the Eagles from relegation candidates to promotion in just six months.

And chairman Simon Jordan is understandably keen to tie the young boss down with a long-term deal. That deal is now all but done, with just a few details to be ironed out.

"It's going very well and I don't envisage any problems at all," Dowie told skysports.com. "We just need to dot the i's and cross the t's."

The rest of the management team – assistant manager Kit Symons and fitness coach John Harbin – will also be signing new deals.

It’s also believed that Dowie’s brother Bob will be taking up a position as director of football at Palace. Bob Dowie had previously been working in a scouting role for the Eagles.
