Dowie snubs Pompey offer

Palace have turned down an approach from Portsmouth for the services of manager Iain Dowie.

Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric made his move after sacking Alain Perrin earlier this week.

Palace supremo Simon Jordan made Dowie aware of the interest, but was adamant he had no intention of letting the highly-rated boss go.

"I have rejected Portsmouth's request and look forward to maintaining a strong working relationship with Iain," Jordan said.

Iain Dowie was also quick to distance himself from the approach.

"I love working with the group of players I have here and I enjoy being manager of Crystal Palace," he told the official website.

"The chairman informed me of Portsmouth's interest, but both he and I are totally focused on getting Crystal Palace back to the Premiership."

It is thought Portsmouth may now increase their attention on Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock.
