Dowie Wants AJ Protection

Johnson had to be substituted just eight minutes after equalising for Palace in the 29th minute at the Madejski Stadium and is now a major injury doubt for this weekends game against Cardiif City.

"He didn't get a penalty and he didn't win a single foul," Dowie fumed after the game.

"If he is running at 70 mph and he gets a kick he can't help but go down.

"I am sick to death with this debate. "Some people seem to think he dives and he is an England international, so you wonder if refs want the limelight."
