The teenage winger was dismissed for allegedly spitting at Patrick Van Aanholt but after watching video evidence boss Dougie Freedman insists that was not the case.
"The referee's report indicates that Wilfried was sent off for spitting at the player but the video clearly shows he didn't," Freedman told the Croydon Advertiser.
"He did spit but how many players spit during a football match?
"The player was about four foot away from where Wilf was and it certainly wasn't aimed at anyone. I know Wilf's shooting could be better but it's not that bad!"
Zaha will be suspended for four matches if the appeal fails as it was his second red card of the season.
