According to the Daily Mail, former Fulham centre back Brede Hangeland is on the verge of a move to Selhurst Park. The commanding defender left Fulham this summer with the taste of bitterness in his mouth after finding out via email that he was surplus to requirements.

The 33-year-old reportedly held talks with Steve Bruce at Hull City but would prefer to stay in the capital. A move to south London could see Hangeland partner Scott Dann or Damien Delaney in the Eagles centre of defence.

The signing of the free agent could prove a shrewd piece of business by Tony Pulis. The Norweigian captain helped Fulham to Premier League survival in six out of his seven seasons at Craven Cottage becoming a fans favourite over that time.
