Former boss hits out at Hangeland

Felix Magath has responded to comments by former players Brede Hangeland and Matthew Briggs.

Former Fulham captain Brede Hangeland made the move to the south of the city following his release from the Cottagers this summer. Following his departure Hangeland revealed his dissapointment that he was released by Fulham boss Felix Magath via email after six years at Fulham.

Hangeland said after his departure from Fulham that the German coach was “very difficult to work with” and would “mentally and physically batter” his players.

Fellow ex-Fulham player Matthew Briggs was also quick to criticise Magath's training methods claiming that the German's approach left the squad 'exhausted' come matchday.

Magath chose the eve of his Championship debut to hit back.

“As I took the job; the club and the players they were on the bottom of the league...all the players who are telling you everything; they are responsible from the beginning of the season".

Whilst Felix Magath and Brede Hangeland seem happy to go there separate ways and leave this saga behind them Matthew Briggs is relishing the prospect of taking the field against his former club.

"If I do get the shirt I will be able to prove to Felix Magath and Fulham that I am capable and maybe it was a mistake for them to let me go."
