Freedman - I knew wed stay up

Freedman guided the Eagles out of the bottom three and to safety after taking over from George Burley in January.

The Scot had been saying for weeks his side were too good to go down, but they were only mathematically safe after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Hull.

And Freedman is now looking to ensure they are well away from trouble next term.

"My next job is to raise the bar and keep raising it," he said.

"A lot of managers choose to play mind games but I can say hand on heart I was confident when I took over that we would stay up. I knew we had the ability in the dressing room."
