Freedman backs Palace to beat drop

Palace wasted two excellent chances to snatch the points late in the game as midfielder Neil Danns struck the post and substitute Steffen Iversen blazed over when he should have done better.

Scunthorpe's draw at Coventry means they remain just three points clear of the Iron, although they have a substantially better goal difference.

Palace's margin for error could be reduced to two points if Preston can beat Millwall on Saturday but Freedman said: "I am comfortable as long as we have that three-point gap. It's coming down to us winning a game of football. We have three games to get as many as we can.

"But looking around the dressing room I think we have more than enough to win games and the pleasing thing was we looked to play with no fear and we gave it a good go.

"The main thing in this division is not to get beat and we didn't."
