Freedman salutes battling Palace

Derby were ahead in the seventh minute after Stephen Pearson slotted home his first of the season. Dean Moxey levelled for the hosts with a long-range volley before Jamie Ward edged Derby ahead again in the second half with a spectacular drive. However, Darren Ambrose's late penalty means Palace, who are four points above the Championship relegation zone, have still not lost at home since October.

Freedman said: "We are relieved with a point. It was a deserved point but to get a point after going into the last five minutes 2-1 down, I'm delighted with that.

"To fight back tells you something about the squad because we haven't been in that position before.

"We didn't give up and to have that spirit, that never-say-die attitude, will put us where we need to be.

"I can't really criticise my players, but Derby had players with a lot of nous and that made us second best in some situations."
