Freedman upbeat despite defeat

Marlon King netted the vital second goal 11 minutes from time adding to Richard Wood's first-half strike before Steffen Iversen netted an injury-time consolation for Palace.

Freedman said: "I was disappointed with the result but not the performance - especially in the second half.

"We had a game plan that was working in the first half but we gave away a soft goal and we changed in the second half which made us a bit more vulnerable at the back but we created a bit more.

"The fact they scored their second goal before we scored ours probably did us but it was a spirited performance and I saw enough out there to work with.

"Sometimes it's just not your day and that was the case. We won't make any excuses but we do have to address our away form because it could have a big bearing on our season."
