Friendly: Swindon 2 Palace 2

Last updated : 24 July 2006 By Nik Taylor

Palace came from two goals down yesterday to grab a draw against League Two side Swindon Town.

Dennis Wise's side raced into a 2-0 lead as Christian Roberts shot home from an Andy Monkhouse through ball and then Jerel Ifil took advantage of slack defending at a corner to hit the second.

However, Palace were back in the game just before half-time as forgotten man Sandor Torghelle pressed his claims for a return to first-team action with a well-taken goal scored from the edge of the area.

Just after the break Gary Borrowdale stunned the entire crowd by hamering home a thunderbolt from all of 30 yards into the roof of the net. Despite further chances at either end, there were no more goals to come and the game finished 2-2.

One intriguing aspect of the game for Palace was the second-half appearance of Gabor Kiraly. The Hungarian keeper has been frozen out of pre-season so far after making clear his intention to leave Selhurst. However, he played the second-half of yesterday's game ahead of Julian Speroni.

Palace team:
