Granville commits to Palace

Danny Granville has signed a new contract with Palace that will keep him at the club for a further two seasons.

With the left-back’s current deal having run out this summer, Granville had been tipped as one of the possible departures from Selhurst Park.

But his signature on the new contract means the defender will remain with the Eagles until at least 2007.

Palace director of football Bob Dowie spoke to the South London Press about his delight in keeping hold of Granville.

"He had better offers but has shown a great deal of loyalty to Crystal Palace," said Dowie.

"Danny's a very reliable left-back and we're very pleased to keep him here.

"He was sought after by a lot of other clubs but he's decided to stay and continue to work with manager Iain Dowie."
