Granville not ready says Dowie

Defender Danny Granville faces a tough battle to regain his first-team place because he is short of full match fitness, according to Palace boss Iain Dowie.

The 30-year-old left-back has started the season with a niggling injury problem that has seen his first-team appearances restricted to just one Carling Cup run-out against Walsall.

His place has been taken by Gary Borrowdale, who has impressed in a run of three straight league wins where Palace have not conceded a goal.

Dowie said: "Danny has played virtually every game for me since I took over as manager here. But he has a knee problem at the moment and it hasn't cleared up fully.
"Danny hasn't found his best form as yet. If he had, Gary Borrowdale would be under huge pressure."
