Peter Taylor is believed to be readying a bid for Colchester defender Greg Halford.
Taylor is looking to complete more transfers before the close of the window, and has admitted his interest in 21-year-old Halford.
"We are trying to bring in some players, be it a wide right midfielder or a striker,'' said Taylor.
"I am aware of Greg Halford, he is a player I like and know very well."
Halford plays at the back for Colchester, but can also play in a wide midfield role or even up front.
