Ipswich linked with Palace duo

Dougie Freedman and Shaun Derry have emerged as potential targets for Ipswich Town boss Joe Royle.

The Town manager watched Palace’s reserve team match against Coventry last week, in which Freedman notched a goal in the 2-1 defeat.

Royle admitted he was assessing some players, but was quick to dismiss reports that a loan move for the pair is imminent.

"I was at the game but that is all I'm prepared to say. Nothing will be happening this week and nothing is signed or agreed for next week,” he said.

"There is no urgency. There is nothing wrong with the team at the moment, so it's not a matter of fixing anything.

"If we get someone in they have to be as good, if not better than we already have as I'm not bringing anyone in to be a back-up."
