Andrew Johnson has kicked off a mammoth bidding war after telling manager Iain Dowie he wants to leave Palace in order to further his international career, say reports.
Accoring to The Daily Mail, the 24-year-old striker has his sights set on taking part in next year’s World Cup in Germany and believes his chances will be hampered by playing in The Championship.
Johnson apparently made his request after speaking to Dowie, with the Palace boss reportedly telling the forward to put his request in writing.
Both Dowie and chairman Simon Jordan have repeatedly made it clear they have no intention of selling their star player. However, if AJ really is intent on leaving, that stance may become untenable.
