Jordan eyes Palace exit

Palace supremo Simon Jordan has admitted he may quit the club following promotion to the Premiership.

Jordan has bankrolled the Eagles for the last four years and after several seasons of struggle, his dream of seeing Palace reach the Premiership became reality this year.

But despite the prospect of a money-spinning campaign in the top-flight, the Palace owner has confessed he may look to sell on the club.

"This is not an impulsive decision to get out," Jordan told the Sunday Mirror. "In the past, I have largely ignored certain issues relating to my involvement with Palace but I always maintained that if we secured promotion I would consider my position.

"Certain people's natural assumption would be to suggest that I want to get out now because I can profit from our promotion.

"But money is not the motivator. If that had been the case I would never have got involved in the first place.

"In reality, for the most part, for four years I have found it a very difficult, disillusioning and disingenuous business where decency, hard work and commitment are interpreted as arrogance, aggression and interference."

But Jordan had comforting words for any fans fearful of a return to the years of penury we endured a few seasons back.

"Needless to say, in the event I do depart it will not be on the basis of taking all the money or seeking to take my own heavy investment in the club back.

"My legacy at Palace is as important to me as the four years it has taken to bring success. And I will do nothing to stop the progress of Iain Dowie and this football club."
