Kabba, who made 14 appearances for Grimsby, scoring on six occasions, was scheduled to remain with the Mariners until November 23rd.

However, Kabba returned to Palace earlier than was arranged because Eagles striker Dougie Freedman sustained an injury in their 3-0 victory over Coventry in the Worthington Cup on Wednesday night.

A Palace spokesman said: "Dougie sustained a calf injury against Coventry so Steve has had to be recalled.

"He's done really well up there and I'm sure he'll go straight into the squad on Saturday."
