Kuqi signs on dotted line

Palace have paid Blackburn £2.5 million for the services of striker Shefki Kuqi, who has signed on a three-year deal.

The 29-year-old Finnish international has been with Rovers since the summer of 2005 and scored seven goals in the Premiership last season – even though most of his 34 appearances were from the bench.

Peter Taylor will expect great things from Kuqi as he is a proven goalscorer at Championship level.

His first season in English football was at Stockport, where he netted regularly despite the Hatters' unsuccesful battle against the drop.

He repeated this at Sheffield Wednesday and then moved to Ipswich where he found his best form to date. During the 2004-5 season, Kuqi scored 20 league goals from 42 starts.
