Lennon: Palace was ‘a tempter'

Palace target Neil Lennon has now signed a new deal at Celtic, but admits the prospect of a move to Selhurst Park was a tempting one for him.

The experienced midfielder looked to be on his way out of Parkhead after contract talks stalled. Having worked with Peter Taylor at Leicester, that made a somewhat unlikely move to SE25 a real possibility.

However, once Bhoys boss Gordon Strachan came in with a new one-year deal, the 34-year-old opted to stay with the Scottish champions.

"It was a good offer (from Palace)," Lennon told Sky Sports News. "I knew Peter from my days at Leicester, he was good to me and he has done well at his previous clubs and there was a tempter there, but I have a lot to offer up here.

"To leave Celtic now at such an exciting stage, I may regret it further on down the line."
