Palace have completed the loan signing of Liverpool striker and former Austrian young player of the year Besian Idrizaj.

The 19-year-old has joined the Eagles on a 12 month loan deal, having been at Liverpool since signing from Austrian side Linzer ASK in summer 2005.

His signing was completed in time to make him eligible to play in Saturday's home match against Charlton.

Idrizaj is yet to make his first team debut for the Reds, but has been a regular in the reserve team and was involved in their pre-season schedule, notching a hat-trick in a friendly against Wrexham.

The frontman already has experience of playing in the Championship, having spent two months on loan at Luton last season. During that time he made three starts and four substitute appearances, scoring once in the process.

The arrival of the young Austrian will add further fuel to the rumours that misfiring striker Shefki Kuqi will be shipped out before the transfer window closes. Wolves and Ipswich are both believed to be interested in the Finn.
