Iain Dowie has made another addition to his backroom staff with the arrival of Mike Kelly as goalkeeping coach.

Kelly has previously coached the England keepers, as well as working with Southampton, Liverpool and Rangers.

The number one spot has been a troublesome position for Palace in recent seasons, with no one keeper able to hold down the shirt for any significant length of time. But Kelly revealed his first impressions of current stopper Cedric Berthelin were positive.

"His work ethic and attitude are very good," Kelly told the official Palace site. "He’s got good hands and good technique, so all I can see at the moment are pluses. Obviously, playing in a match is completely different to training and it’s all down to whether you have got the temperament to make the correct decisions under pressure and handle different situations."
